You Don't Own Me - THE PRINT

COMING SOON...!

High definition museum-grade archival Giclée prints from the original textile artwork are produced on Canson 310gsm photo rag paper using 12 colour pigment inks. These prints look extremely lifelike with the threads and beads seeming to pop right off the paper

Artist Statement:

You Don’t Own Me is an anthem that expresses independence, empowerment and self worth. It challenges control, asserts freedom and insists that body, mind and creativity remain our own. Reiterating this resilience is the pursuit of subverting traditional structures - each stitch affirming an evolution of tradition, form and material.

You Don’t Own Me forms part of my explorations into my series of work inspired by lyrics, everyday speech & popular culture exploring the occasional dual meanings of language.  Released in 1963 song by Lesley Gore, it was a song of empowerment and the strength of women - of which is still relevant today. .

The original artwork is a finalist in the Wollongong Art Prize!

On now at Wollongong Art Gallery, Australia - until March 1st, 2026

Framing

I recommend professional framing for all my prints, as this looks the best and also provides longevity and protection of the print for years to come. (However, some prints will fit in standard size frames that you can find everywhere)
