UNtangled necklace

Returning from Jam Factory's recent exhibition 'Materials with Meaning', this necklace forms part of my UNtangled series of wearable art. Originating from a larger installation sculpture titled Tangled which was a finalist in the Bowral Sculptural Prize at Bowral Art Gallery.
 
From the initial stages of construction it was always my intention to UNtangle the original sculpture into segments, further reiterating the re-purposed nature of the original artwork.
 
An UNtangled necklace can be worn either side as wearable art, or when not being worn, hung on the wall as a sculptural piece of art, a fragment of its former self.
 
Featuring hand stitched cottons and threads, velvet, spandex, cotton and beads.
